Three Rides Over Three Successive Weekends. Again.

From TrikkeWorld Magazine (sponsors of Long Beach Trikkers)

Quick Carve:
Newport Back Bay Trikke Ride in Orange County on Sunday, July 24, 2011.
Last Saturday of the Month Ride in Long Beach on Saturday, July 30, 2011.
Los Angeles Trikkeathon in the South Bay on Saturday, August 6, 2011.

Two more dates have been announced for group rides in Southern California, adding to what has already been a busy summer on the So Cal Trikke circuit.

The two additional events means So Cal carvers can look forward to Trikke events on three successive weekends, beginning with the Newport Back Bay Ride on Sunday, July 24th. The ride along the coastal waters of Orange County is being organized by Lisa Hoolihan, TrikkeOC trainer.

The following weekend, the Last Saturday of the Month Ride, the region’s most popular ride so far this year, gets underway in Long Beach on Saturday, July 30th.

Nicknamed the LSM (by trikker Wilson Wong) and sponsored by SBT&T, the event brought over 40 riders to Long Beach in both May and June. For many, the main attraction of the LSM is the pre-ride Trikke Workshop, where beginners and newbies can get help with their riding skills.

The first weekend in August ushers in the very first endurance Trikke ride in Los Angeles County, the inaugural LA Trikkeathon on Saturday, August 6th. Also sponsored by SBT&T, the Trikkeathon begins at Miramar Park in Torrance Beach and runs north along the beach bike path in the South Bay to Marina Del Rey (and back).

The newly-announced events makes this the second occasion this year where So Cal carvers have had three Trikke events on three successive weekends. This past spring, the May LSM in Long Beach and endurance rides in Aliso Creek and Ventura provided the first Trikke trifecta for the region.

With at least two more events scheduled after the second trifecta, the August LSM in the South Bay and the Labor Day Weekend Ride in Long Beach, some might be tempted to call this the summer of the Trikke in Southern California.
